Making Treaty 7 is currently rebranding with a new Artistic Director in place. Our brand aims to curate and promote Indigenous arts through a variety of mediums, traditional, contemporary and hybrids. By providing professional services that include theatrical mentorship, photography, videography, social media and digital channels, shows like "Making Treaty 7" & "We Are All Treaty People" will continue to make huge impacts on audiences and communities. An Indigenous media arts company that is focused on providing Indigenous art and performance through storytelling and digital media

  • Garret C. Smith ·

    Garret C. Smith is an actor & Cultural Facilitator from the Piikani Nation, part of the Blackfoot Confederacy, based in Southern Alberta. Known particularly for roles in various theatre projects that focus on showcasing First Nation culture and experiences. An advocate for First Nations rights and for bringing attention to the importance of authentic representation in media.

    A 2013 graduate of the Centre For Indigenous Theatre, based in Toronto, Ontario; Former Interim Artistic Director for Making Treaty 7 Cultural Society in 2017; Founder of Mohkinstsis Healing Camp in 2018; In 2020 Garret developed an "Open Tipi Harvest" with his family inviting the general public to join and learn about Blackfoot Culture. They continue this work each summer, developing new initiatives with local businesses and communities. In addition he provides tipi poles for local Elders and organizations as a means to keep his culture and community connected to each other and the land.
